It both preserve and transform practically any kind of produce into authentic taste, unique texture and irreplaceable nutritional value. 

Our 2L Glass Fermentation Crock lets you make delicious, fermented favorites in an affordable design at home. With its 2 liter capacity for vegetables, brine, and seasonings, you can ferment large amounts of your favorite nutrient-packed foods. The re-writable label (wax pencil included) makes it easy to identify each batch and dates, while our Youtube videos provide directions, inspiration and original recipes for first-timers and veterans. Learn how to make your own Kombucha, Bavarian Sauerkraut, Fermented Chili Sauce and much more!

The interior of all Mortier Pilon crocks and jars is 100% glass, which allows you to see and assess the fermentation process, compared to most crocks available on the market made of ceramic. The white parts on the outside of the crocks and jars are made of non-reactive, BPA-free plastic, and do not come into contact with the food.

The 2L format is perfect for beginners. If you’re looking for bigger quantities, we also have a 5L crock available.

2L FERMENTATION JAR: How to Make Fermented Foods at Home?

1. Clean your crock by hand using water (NO HOT OR BOILING WATER) and some vinegar. Leave it to dry overnight on a dry, clean towel. Avoid touching the inside of the jar, including with the towel.

2. Choose your recipe from our booklet or book, place food in crock, pour in brine (leave ¾ inch head space) & cover with ceramic weight.

3. Affix ring, fill in water barrier (THE WATER RING YOU SEE ON THE PACKAGING IS JUST THE WATER YOU FILL IN) and cover with lid.

4. Leave to ferment per recipe recommendation.

5. When it’s ready, enjoy your fermented food or save it in Mason jars for later use.

6. Wash your crock by hand using water and vinegar. DO NOT USE HOT OR BOILING WATER / DISHWASHER.
