This kit includes everything you need to make your own fermented Kimchi at home. From the durable, high-quality glass crock with a rewritable label to identify each date and batch, the booklet of tested and user-friendly recipes, you're truly all set to get started with our 2L Glass Fermentation Crock to Make Kimchi. Just follow our simple instructions while trusting your creativity!

The interior of all Mortier Pilon crocks and jars is 100% glass, which allows you to see and assess the fermentation process, compared to most crocks available on the market made of ceramic. The white parts on the outside of the crocks and jars are made of non-reactive, BPA-free plastic, and do not come into contact with the food.

The 2L format is perfect for beginners. If you’re looking for bigger quantities, we also have a 5L crock available.

How to Use

  1. Choose your recipe from our booklet or book, place food in crock, pour in brine (leave ¾ inch head space) & cover with ceramic weight.
  2. Place the ring, fill in water barrier (THE WATER RING YOU SEE ON THE PACKAGING IS JUST THE WATER YOU FILL IN) and cover with lid.
  3. Leave to ferment per recipe recommendation.
  4. When it’s ready, enjoy your fermented food or save it in Mason jars for later use.
  5. Wash your crock by hand using water and vinegar. DO NOT USE HOT OR BOILING WATER / DISHWASHER.

How to Clean

Clean your crock by hand using water (NO HOT OR BOILING WATER) and some vinegar. Leave it to dry overnight on a dry, clean towel. Avoid touching the inside of the jar, including with the towel.
